Statutes

EuDDC – Federation of European Great Dane Clubs
Statutes – March 2008-

Article 1:  Purpose

    1. The EuDDC is a federation of European Great Dane Clubs, who may become members, whose mutual interest is Great Danes. Its purpose is to encourage the exchange of information among the friends of the breed with the target of improving the  breed.
    2. The EuDDC was founded in Bensheim-Auerbach, Germany September 8, 1979.

Article 2: Basic Rules

2.1 The sovereignty of members is unequivocal hence only recommendations can be forwarded by the EuDDC. Each member is free to take its own decisions. Membership does not entail any obligation.
2.2 Members may make agreements between each other. Agreements with clubs of non-EuDDC member countries are permitted.
2.3  The FCI Standard is to be accepted by the members of the EuDDC.
2.4  The EuDDC is not  responsible for liabilities of members.
2.5  The EuDDC conformation is acknowledged by the member-clubs.
Provided:
a) assessment of all positions on the formular, that is the same for everyone, especially temperament check.
b) addition of all requirements )e.g. hip-dysplasy results, DNA-analysis etc.) that are demanded by the country where the litter is going to be registered.
2.6  There is a EuDDC judges list. Each member may put up judges of their own country for this list and update this list every year. Applications follow FCI rules. The list is a recommendation but not compulsory.

Article 3: Organisation

3.1 There is no committee in the sense of a presidency of a club.
3.2 A member country – represented by a board of 3 people takes - chairs the federation for the period of 1 year. The president of this board can only be the president of the club of that member country. Its tasks are determined by the board itself.  The chair rotates on an annual basis.
3.3 To ensure the correct handling of expenses among the member countries and the country which chairs the federation, a secretary (treasurer) is nominated. This secretary is elected for 6 years by the member-clubs’ General Meeting.  The same is valid for a representative of the secretary. Those people cannot be member of a board.
3.4 In case a member terminates its membership to the EuDDC, while chairing the organisation or it is unable to comply with all duties of the chair (e.g. when the committee of their country’s club changes while in office) the secretary is requested to call in for an Extraordinary General Meeting where a new board has to be elected for the remaining period.
3.4 The seat of the EuDDC is always the residence of the secretary in force.

Article 4:  Duties

4.1 the EuDDC Show is organized annually by the chairing member country. At this show, the “EuDDC Champion”-title is awarded. On the evening prior to the show a social get-together is arranged, which is open to all Great Dane friends .
4.2 The Annual General Meeting of the EuDDC is held at the same time as the show. It serves mainly the purpose of exchanging information with the aim of promoting the Great Dane Breed in compliance with the Standard, to discuss problems and show solutions.

Article 5: Membership

5.1 There is only one Great Dane Club for each country that can become member of the EuDDC and this club has to be a member of their respective country’s Canine Society that is acknowledged by the FCI. Applications for membership have to be made in written form and addressed to the member country chairing the organisation.
5.2 Applications for membership have to contain: the statutes of the club, the name and address of the committee, evidence of a membership to the Canine Society of the country. The application is dealt with by the delegates at the General Meeting. All members have equal rights. The members are represented by delegates at the General Meeting. Each member has the right to declare its position and file for petitions.
5.3 Membership is automatically terminated once a member is no longer member of the Canine Society of its country or the annual membership has not been paid for longer than one year or a club has been dissolved. It is possible to leave the EuDDC by the end of a year and the demand to end membership has to be addressed in written form to the chair by September 30. Any club that violates the interest of the federation can be expelled by a vote of the delegates. With the termination of the membership all claims towards the EuDDC are invalid.

Article 6: General Meeting

6.1 Is held by the board that presides the chair.
6.2 Firm topics for the agenda are:
       1. Report of the chair / the president of the chair
        2.Report of the finance control
        3.Report on the EuDDC’s situation by the chair, who presided over the last year
        4.Cynological Seminar
        5.Delegates presences
        6.Election of the following chair
        7.Election of the finance controllers

        Every 6 years the agenda has to feature the following item 
        8: election of the secretary and the representative.
                                                                                        
6.3 Each member-club has one vote that is carried by a delegate. Elections and acclamations are effective with plain majorities.
6.4 The secretary sends the invitations and the agenda for the General Meeting. The organisation of the General Meeting itself is the job of the chair and its respective president. The members are invited  2 months prior to the General Meeting, the agenda is sent at the same time as the invitation. The members receive a written invitation to propose further items to be put on the agenda 4 months prior to the General Meeting.
6.5 One delegate may be accompanied to the AGM by additional 5 members subject to permission of the relevant club. However, the delegate is the only representative who is allowed to vote.
The member country that has the chair nominates its own delegate to vote.
Absentees may apply for positions by written declaration.
The minutes of each General Meeting have to be drawn up and passed on to the presidents of the member clubs.
The official language is German. Correspondence is written in German or in English.

Article 7: Finances

7.1 The membership fee is € 100 (from 2006 onwards) per country and year. It is meant to cover administrative and separate expenses (payment of seminar fees, support for the EuDDC Show etc.). The EuDDC Show is supported by € 500 until further notice.
7.2 Expenses of the chair are paid by the member country chairing the organisation, while the members pay the expenses for their delegates.

Article 8: Revision of the statutes

Amendments or renewal of the statutes require the consent of two thirds of the delegates present.

Article 9: Termination of the EuDDC

The termination of the federation of mutual interest can only be enforced by consent of two thirds of the member clubs. This decision can also be taken in form of a written vote. In case the termination is an agenda topic of the General Meeting, votes are non-transferable. The funds remaining at the termination will be donated according to the delegates’ decision.

Article 10: The German Version of the present statutes is binding.
